Air Dispersion

Team of multidisciplinary consulting professionals work cohesively to provide integrated solutions for our clients to address complex situations.

What is Air Dispersion Modelling?

Air dispersion modeling is a technique used to predict the distribution and concentration of air pollutants in the atmosphere. It involves the use of mathematical models and computer simulations to predict the behavior of air pollutants as they are emitted into the air. This technique is commonly used by environmental engineers and scientists to evaluate the potential impact of emissions from various sources such as industrial facilities, transportation systems, and power plants. Air dispersion models take into account a wide range of factors such as meteorological conditions, terrain, source characteristics, and chemical properties of the pollutant to predict the concentration and distribution of pollutants in the atmosphere. By using air dispersion modeling, environmental professionals can assess the potential risk to human health and the environment, and develop strategies to minimize or mitigate the impact of air pollution.

Gaussian Dispersion Plume

Air Dispersion modelling is a mathematical simulation of how air pollutants disperse in the ambient atmosphere. The simulation uses mathematical equations and algorithms to characterize the atmospheric processes that distribute an air pollutant emitted by a source over a wide area. These models are used to estimate or to predict ground level concentrations (GLC) at selected downwind receptor locations of air pollutants emitted from sources such as industrial plants, mines, vehicular traffic or accidental chemical releases.

We believe in providing you with the right answers - not just any answers. That's why we carefully assess each project to determine whether we can truly make a difference and add value to your organization.

Our goal is to ensure that you benefit from our expertise, which is why we may occasionally turn down assignments that don't align with our core competencies.

To get a clear understanding of your needs and goals, we begin by asking a lot of questions upfront. This allows us to tailor our approach to your specific situation and provide you with custom solutions that meet your unique requirements. We believe that taking the time to ask the right questions at the beginning leads to better outcomes and more successful projects.

Dispersion Modelling Services Offered

Envitrans provides a variety of air quality modelling services using EPA Guideline models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF as well as specialized use models like FDM, SDM, AFTOX and CALINE.

Air Disprsion Modelling Sources

Dispersion Modelling Applications

Air dispersion models are applied to determine compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), and other regulatory requirements. Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) requires the background ambient air quality levels to be reported in all Environmental Impact Studies (EIA) with the predicted values based on dispersion models.
