Air Dispersion Modelling Services

Air Dispersion

Team of multidisciplinary consulting professionals work cohesively to provide integrated solutions for our clients to address complex situations.

What is Air Dispersion Modelling?

Air dispersion modelling is a technique used to predict the distribution and concentration of air pollutants in the atmosphere. It involves the use of mathematical models and computer simulations to predict the behavior of air pollutants as they are emitted into the air. This technique is commonly used by environmental engineers and scientists to evaluate the potential impact of emissions from various sources such as industrial facilities, transportation systems, and power plants. Air dispersion models take into account a wide range of factors such as meteorological conditions, terrain, source characteristics, and chemical properties of the pollutant to predict the concentration and distribution of pollutants in the atmosphere. By using air dispersion modelling, environmental professionals can assess the potential risk to human health and the environment, and develop strategies to minimize or mitigate the impact of air pollution.

Gaussian Dispersion Plume

Air Dispersion modelling is a mathematical simulation of how air pollutants disperse in the ambient atmosphere. The simulation uses mathematical equations and algorithms to characterize the atmospheric processes that distribute an air pollutant emitted by a source over a wide area. These models are used to estimate or to predict ground level concentrations (GLC) at selected downwind receptor locations of air pollutants emitted from sources such as industrial plants, mines, vehicular traffic or accidental chemical releases.

Our Engagement Process

Clarity, Integrity & Technical Rigor — Every Step of the Way

At Envitrans, we understand that air dispersion modelling is often a regulatory requirement, but not every client starts with a clear understanding of what’s needed.

That’s why we’ve designed a simple, two-step process to guide you efficiently — without overwhelming you or compromising on quality.

Step 1: Initial Consultation (Free)

Understand. Align. Advise.

  • Understand your project context
  • Identify whether dispersion modelling is applicable
  • Advise on approach and regulatory expectations

This is a high-level exploratory discussion — no obligation, no pressure.

Step 2: Scoping Consultation (Paid)

Define the Right Scope — With Technical Confidence

  • Review of regulatory and project needs
  • Modelling method selection (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF)
  • Data input requirements and assumptions
  • Deliverables and timeline overview

Offered as a paid scoping package - see full details below. The fee is fully adjusted if the full project is awarded.

Why We Work This Way

We don’t believe in using client lists or showcasing reports to promote our services. Confidentiality is a key part of our ethos. Instead, we invite you to evaluate us based on:

  • Over a decade of continuous market presence under the Envitrans name – led by 30+ years of personal expertise in air dispersion modelling.
  • The technical capabilities of our team and tools
  • Our transparent, ethical, and consistent engagement model

We’re here to assist you when you need air quality modelling done right - not just done.

Scoping Consultation Service

Before starting any air dispersion modelling work, it's essential to clearly define the technical scope based on your project's context and regulatory needs.

Our Scoping Consultation Service is a structured, low-cost engagement designed to ensure that:

  • Your project’s compliance requirements are properly understood
  • The correct modelling approach and tools are selected (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF, etc.)
  • All necessary input data and assumptions are identified early
  • The full proposal and deliverables are clearly defined from the outset

This service is offered as a fixed-fee package, typically ranging from ₹5,000–₹10,000 (approx. $60–$120 USD) depending on complexity. The full fee is adjusted if you proceed with the main project within 60 days.

Why it matters:
A clearly scoped project avoids delays, miscommunication, and technical gaps — especially for regulatory submissions or compliance audits.

Dispersion Modelling Services Offered

Envitrans provides a variety of air quality modelling services using EPA Guideline models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF as well as specialized use models like FDM, SDM, AFTOX and CALINE.

Dispersion Modelling Applications

Air dispersion models are applied to determine compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), and other regulatory requirements. Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) requires the background ambient air quality levels to be reported in all Environmental Impact Studies (EIA) with the predicted values based on dispersion models.
